It was built by Henry VIII and spans over 400 years of history, a beautiful day out for all the family. Ascot Race Course and Sandown Race Course are approximately 15 miles away. Ascot has one of the most famous horse race courses in the world. Stoke Park Golf Club is approximately 9 miles north west of Heathrow, with its 27 hole championship golf course. Other excellent golf courses are nearby.
Heathrow is the UK's biggest airport. It is almost a self-contained city with a population of over 60,000 workers. It is hard to believe that this monstrous architectural and engineering feat started life as a small grass airfield, originally used for flying tests. Heathrow has developed into the major international airport it is today.
